This is another very welcome volume by America's foremost satirist ring Lardner. Although he was only with us for 48 years most of his works have become classics. On show here are a number of stories that once again are marked out by the weird situations and ideas he creates. His use of slang and idioms, his dis-respect for grammar, his cynicism all come together hilariously as Jack writes to his old friend Al about his thoughts, stories and adventures from the battlefields of World War 1 France
