The anonymous narrator is suffering from a strange hyper-sensitivity to everything around him. He lives with an old man who has a clouded bluish eye, an abnormality that fascinates and disturbs him. Resolving to kill the man and dispose of his body, he soon realizes in horror, however, his innocent victim may never let him forget what he has done.
