And Still the Sky is Pink and Blue by Joan Hill is a poetry collection consisting of at least 45 intimate and family-centred poems.

Excerpt from And Still the Sky is Pink and Blue by Joan Hill:

"This is the year I grew old

knocked down by those

who claimed

they meant no harm.

Though when it came to saving me

each took his bite

trustee, lawyer, real estate agent

and the biggest chunk of all

taken by the one who claimed

he loved me most.

This is the year I grew old

became aware of laws

careless of the lives they dislodge

designed to break down walls

to shatter this house

of strong timbers

solid as rock.

This is the year I grew old

my children and I

make our way alone,

our life ended

as sharply as the lines

I slashed on paper

reduced to a scarred

charcoal image."
