This big book format enhances the impact of this successful biographical storybook. Anne Frank tells the tragic story of this young Jewish teenager who kept a diary for over two years while hiding from the Nazis, until she was discovered and led away to her death in 1944. Linc illustrations and speech bubbles help to pace children's reading, while conveying the horror of the story in a sensitive way. Anne Frank supports the National Curriculum for history and the National Literacy Strategy. Additional notes at the front suggests ways that teachers can use the big book as part of a literacy hour. These have been prepared by Gill Matthews, a consultant for the National Literacy Strategy (non-fiction).
