2009 is just around the corner, and it’s the time of year when our thoughts naturally turn to the resolution(s) to finally take better care of self and lose those stealth pounds and inches that somehow creep up on us all. It’s especially important during this period of national and world economic distress to have a healthy coping strategy. Rather than using food as a tool to numb yourself out, you can use it to make yourself healthy and strong. There are many different healthy weight loss options to consider, and today we have three expert guests to help you figure out which option is best for you. First up is Barbara Badolati, an intuitive eating expert, who talks about how to use laughter and relaxation to make wiser and healthier food choices. Barbara also discusses the emotional connections you have with food and encourages you to explore your diet history, hunger cues, and body image. Our second guest, Dr. Barbara Rolls, is an internationally renowned expert in the research of hunger and obesity, the chairperson of Nutritional Sciences at Pennsylvania State University, and the bestselling co-author of THE VOLUMETRICS WEIGHT CONTROL PLAN: Feel Full on Fewer Calories. This common sense approach to weight loss shows how to feel full by making smarter food choices for yourself that don’t result in calorie overload. And lastly, our third guest, Debbie Pino-Saballett, the Director of Health Education in the University of California San Diego Student Health Services organization, talks about why the University of California puts an emphasis on health rather than weight. She also describes the comprehensive mind-body-food program they offer to interested students to avoid the dreaded “freshman 15,” the weight gain experienced by first-time-away-from home freshmen and sophomores. This is the last MY THIN LIFESTYLE show of the season. Host Karen Bentley and producer Tony Lapetina want to say thanks for tuning in. It’s been a pleasure and an honor to serve you and we hope our paths cross again. Happy Holidays!
