When Sophie is whisked from her bed and out of the window by a huge, hairy hand, she complains bitterly, but her kidnapper is the BFG and he is indignant, explaining she is lucky that it is he, the Big Friendly Giant, and not one of his disgusting neighbouring giants who guzzle and swallomp nice chiddlers.

Sophie is so shocked at the behaviour of the BFG's fellow giants that, after a serious discussion, the two hatch an ingenious plot to save the Queen of England (particularly scrumdiddlyumptious but so far, too well guarded) and eventually, with the assistance of Her Majesty herself, rid the world of trogglehumping giants for ever.
