Charles Lutwidge Dogson, better known by his pen name Lewis Carroll, was born on January 27, 1832 in Daresbury, Cheshire, England. He is the author of the classics "Alice´s Adventures in Wonderland" (1865) and "Through the Looking-Glass" (1872). His works are characterized by his wonderful ability in the genre of literary nonsense. He died in 1898. The Story of "Through the Looking-Glass" is set some six months later than the one of "Alice´s Adventures in Wonderland". Again the curious little girl enters a fantastical world, this time by climbing through a mirror. The book includes such well-known verses as „Jabberwocky" or „The Walrus and the Carpenter", and the episode involving Tweedledum and Tweedledee. This edition is decorated with 36 beautiful illustrations by Peter Newell (1862-1924).
