In June 1935 the New Jersey State Police recovered a virtual arsenal of weapons from a Mountain View gangster hideout. Among the stash were tear gas bombs, a sub machine gun used to kill Mad Dog Coll in February 1932, stolen cars, pistols, great quantities of ammunition, other weapons, etc. Of the seven men arrested all were wanted for murder or had been indicted for murder previously. One woman, the wife of one of George Maiwald, was taken into custody. The prisoners were held under heavy guard in Paterson while awaiting trial. Three of the eight defendants were charged under New Jersey's recently adopted Public Enemy Law.
