Jack London (1876-1916), whose real name was John Griffith London, was one of the few writers that actually experienced the adventures described in his novels and short stories. His life was full of action and also of frustrations (and they made him a suicide when he was only forty years old) and his works are forever attractive because its sincerity. There is an example in "El mexicano", written from his experiences as a war correspondent, that tells how young man contributes to the fight against Porfirio Diaz with his earnings as a boxer.
