Military history as a fragment of extensive continuum of historical learning is in simple expressions the study of mankind in war. It denotes a wide range of subjects indistinguishably connected to the military activities of the past which include social, political, human, technological and institutional aspects. Awareness of the wars from the past can help in understanding current problems and also benefit us by letting us guess what the future may have in store for us. The combative nature of human has aided him in dominating the past along with the many peaceful years that mankind presently lives in. Not many years back history of military had a specific meaning. It was purely a subject of discussion and learning about tactics, battles, operations of the forces, campaigns and weapons. 

It is the history of fighting where weapons and equipment, battle behaviour, military organisation, movement, logistics, mentality, tactical training and strategic planning are involved.
