For as long as he can remember, Jerry Cartwright has been overweight. He's finally made the decision to change his life, and it begins with bringing his problems to the Lord. However, when he makes his journey to church, he somehow ends up in the hospital and more depressed than he's ever been. Facing a tough situation with declining health, Jerry finds that his back against the wall as he struggles to overcome a lifelong battle and finally face the source of his problems.
Cynthia Neal is a hardworking single mother of twin boys. When the back pew breaks and she needs a new place to sit, she finds herself meeting and getting to know Leonard Jennings whose wife is on the sick and shut in list due to an illness. The two get to know one another, and before she knows it, Cynthia gets caught up in her feelings and begins an affair with Leonard that sends her into a whirlwind of emotions.
Melody "Mel" Harris has spent her life chasing after men. A self described gold digger, Melody has always made it clear that only men whose pockets ran deep could entertain her. When she's forced to find a new seat, she meets the man of her dreams in Deacon Tommy Jacobs He's rich, handsome, and seems to have it all. However, Melody soon starts to learn that with money and power come control. She now finds herself in over her head.
James Morgan is a young father-to be who lives a very simple life, work and home with pregnant fiancée. When James reunites with an old group of friends and gets turned on to a life of crime, he discovers not only is he good it, but it's a great way to make some extra money. However, James' pastime soon turns into an addiction and before he knows it he's in over his head and has to make some tough decisions to keep his family and prevent himself from going to jail.
Trey, assistant pastor of the church, stands by the decision to not replace the pew feeling those back there didn't receive the word and it would get them to mingle with the rest of the church. Though he had the best of intentions, there were things he didn't take into account. The back pew is broken but so are their spirits, easily drawing them deep into sin!
