Having grown complacent in the wake of their victory over the Oni, the ninja are enjoying life, and playing video-games, sleeping in, and soaking in a hot tub. Unfortunately, this behaviour quickly grows tiresome and the ninja are confronted by Master Wu, who accuses them of not taking their duties seriously. So the ninja set about trying to find a quest to get back in shape. Unfortunately, they discover this is easier said than done. On TV, they overhear a Gayle Gossip newscast in which she is interviewing famed archaeologist Clutch Powers, who has just uncovered a booby-trapped pyramid deep in the Desert of Doom. The ninja seize on this as their quest! En route through the desert, this promising beginning comes crashing to a halt when the group is attacked by a giant scarab beetle.
