A $650 million annual gambling ring flourished in Westchester and Rockland Counties until it was broken up in March 1970. Intriguingly New York State Policeman were found complicit in the betting operation. One of them served as a double agent and aided greatly in the penetration of its functions. Genovese family soldier Nicholas Rattenni was a fulcrum in the gambling syndicate. He owned a garbage disposal, incinerator firm, A-1 Compacting. It did business throughout Yonkers and Westchester County.
