'Adam Hepburn's Vow: A Tale of Kirk and Covenant', written by Annie S. Swan, is a historical fiction novel set in 17th century Edinburgh. The story follows a family on their journey to the city to witness a grand event in which the people of Scotland stand up against the oppression of their ruler. The minister, his son David, and his daughter Agnes, are welcomed by the minister's sister, Jean, and her husband, Edward Kilgour, who provide them with a place to stay. During their stay, the children witness the event that their father speaks of with passionate earnestness.
