"The Black Abbot" by Edgar Wallace is a crime novel. The story is about the ghost of an abbot haunting the grounds of an old abbey, now the imposing Fossaway Manor, and protecting a lost treasure. When word of this treasure gets out, the Black Abbot specter is put to the test as his identity is investigated in the hopes of finding what is so precious he's willing to spend eternity protecting it.
