When two South Dakota high school girls go missing on their way to a graduation keg party at a local sandpit, suspicion falls onto local neighbor boy, Eli Thorson, whose scrapes with the law already include attempted rape. He denies knowledge of their whereabouts, and no trace of the two girls is found.

Thirty-three years later, a Cold Case Unit reopens the file on their disappearance and suspicion once again falls onto Eli Thorson, now a habitual criminal with a long history of violence and sexual abuse of women. Is Eli responsible for their disappearance?
