  • This edition includes the following editor's introduction: Jack London, an infinite passion for adventure that drove all his work

  • First published two years after his death in 1918, "The Red One" contains four of Jack London's short stories.
Though most of Jack London's novels and short stories fall firmly into the action-adventure category, the prolific author occasionally ventured into other genres, as well. In this case, London ventures into the realm of science fiction again with the title story "The Red One." A scientist collecting butterflies in the jungle encounters a giant red sphere from another world used by natives performing human sacrifices.
The collection includes three other stories: "The Hussy", "Like Argus of the Ancient Times" and "The Princess."
