#1 The Five Precepts are the guidelines for an ethical life. They were revised in 1985 to reflect the way people were living at that time. But now, more than twenty-five years later, it is time to look at them again.

#2 The First Noble Truth is that there is ill-being in the world. The Second Noble Truth is the causes of our ill-being. When we look into ill-being deeply, we can see how it has developed. The Second Noble Truth illuminates the path that has led us to suffering.

#3 The Third Noble Truth is the end of ill-being, and it implies that there is a path that leads to well-being. Transformation and happiness are possible. We don't have to stay stuck.

#4 The Fourth Noble Truth is the path to well-being, and it is found in the nature of ill-being. When we look into the nature of our suffering, we may begin to see not only the path that led to our suffering, but the path leading away from our suffering.
